Virtual CISO at no cost .(I am not kidding)

CISO "in residence" program in Howard County, Maryland.

According to the article:-

The program, known as HOCO CISO, is currently providing "virtual" CISOs that offer security guidance to member companies of the Howard Tech Council (HTC) that do not have their own CSO or CPO. All organizations have to do is submit a request for counsel from the program, and one of the virtual CISOs on call will contact them to discuss a strategic security approach.

The Howard Tech Council has an affinity group known as HACKIT (Howard County Affinity for Cyber Knowledge and Intelligence Technologies/Talks), and the leaders of the group serve as the virtual CISOs that provide consultations.

"Every one of our virtual CISOs works on a volunteer basis," said Taule. "The intent here is to provide this guidance at essentially no cost. It's all part of our mission to give back."

In terms of the type of consultations that organizations will receive from the virtual CISOs, the advice is intended to help stroke that perfect balance between strong protection and optimizing security spending. The advice is the key here, not specific security services; if a company is looking to have some pen testing done, for service.

Strange but True - Want to spy on somebody, (Legally) buy a spy-ware loaded phone and gift it.

You can legally buy a phone with out-of-the-box spying capabilities However, I am not sure about the legality of the usage part.

According to the article:-

That's because mSpy last week began offering a selection of smartphones pre-loaded with the software.

The company's offering pre-installed mSpy software on four of the top smartphone models: Nexus 5, iPhone 5S, HTC One and Galaxy S4.

Pricing starts at $649.99, or about $200 more than a non-booby-trapped phone, and includes a year-long subscription.

Is this legal?

Yes it is, mSpy says on its website.

New Oscar Mayer alarm clock app releases smell and sound of bacon - Yeah, good Marketing Buzz

I found this irresistible even though, I realize that I am indirectly promoting their name

SNIPPET from the Article:-

Here's what Oscar Mayer has actually done: It's released an alarm clock app for iOS devices that uses the sound of sizzling bacon to wake you up. As for the smell, that comes courtesy of a device that plugs into your iPhone's dock and reportedly emits a waft of bacony scent when your alarm goes off

it's seems like a pretty clever marketing campaign by Oscar Mayer to get people talking about the company--and to maybe harvest some emails from people who want to get their hands on that storied alarm clock. And from the company's perspective, this has been a rip-roaring success. After all, we're talking about Oscar Mayer for the first time since we discovered that our bologna did, in point of fact, have a first name.
